Terms of Use

Effective date: 24 August 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to the Safe Screens Family Check-Up website, digital application and related digital materials (together, the “Service”) supplied by Safe Screens, Strong Families (“we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. What the Service is

Safe Screens Family Check-Up is a general educational and planning tool designed to help parents and carers review family digital-safety habits, organise practical next steps and access general online-safety guidance.

The Service is not device-monitoring software and does not monitor messages, calls, browsing activity, location or social-media accounts.

2. Educational information only

The Service provides general educational information. It is not legal, medical, psychological, counselling, cybersecurity, law-enforcement or emergency advice. Information in the Service should not be treated as a substitute for advice from an appropriately qualified professional or relevant authority.

If a person is in immediate danger or there is an urgent safety concern, contact the appropriate local emergency service or relevant authority.

3. Eligibility and family use

The Service is intended for use by parents, carers and other responsible adults. The adult using the Service is responsible for deciding how to apply its educational content within their household.

You must not use the Service to unlawfully monitor, harass, impersonate or interfere with another person.

4. Launch Edition access

The current Launch Edition includes Full Access to the features made available in that edition. No separate Premium upgrade is required for the Launch Edition.

Future editions may use a different access model. Any material change applying to a future purchase will be explained before that purchase. We will not use these Terms to remove rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

5. Local data and device responsibility

The Launch Edition is designed to store family profiles, check-ups, results, action plans, progress and device records locally in the browser or installed web app on your device.

Because this information is stored locally, it may be lost if you clear browser or app data, use private or incognito browsing, change browser profiles, reset or lose the device, or if the browser removes stored site data. Cloud backup and cross-device synchronisation are not included in the Launch Edition.

You are responsible for maintaining reasonable access controls on your device and for deciding what information you enter into the Service.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the Service for unlawful, deceptive, abusive or harmful purposes;
  • attempt to disrupt, damage or interfere with the Service or its hosting;
  • misrepresent the Service as professional advice or an emergency service;
  • copy, resell or redistribute substantial parts of the Service except where we have expressly permitted it; or
  • remove proprietary notices from the Service or related materials.

7. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the software interface, written content, design, branding and original materials in the Service are owned by or licensed to Safe Screens, Strong Families and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your purchase or access gives you a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the Service for household purposes. It does not transfer ownership of the underlying intellectual property.

8. Availability and updates

We aim to keep the Service available and useful, but uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed. Hosting, browser behaviour, device limitations, internet access and software updates may affect availability.

We may release corrections, security updates or improvements. Installed web apps may need to reconnect to the internet from time to time to receive updated application files.

9. Third-party services

The website may link to third-party websites or payment providers. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party content or services outside our control.

10. Purchases, refunds and Australian Consumer Law

Purchase terms, price and payment details shown at checkout form part of your transaction. Where Australian Consumer Law applies, you may have consumer guarantees and remedies that cannot be excluded, restricted or modified by these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.

11. Disclaimers and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided for general educational use and we do not guarantee that every risk will be identified, prevented or resolved through use of the Service.

Nothing in this section limits liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when the Service or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise required by law.
