Privacy Policy

Effective date: 24 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Safe Screens, Strong Families (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information in connection with the Safe Screens Family Check-Up website and Launch Edition application.

1. Our privacy approach

Safe Screens Family Check-Up has been designed as a local-first application. The Launch Edition does not require you to create a Safe Screens family account, and family check-up information is designed to remain in the browser or installed web app on your device.

2. Family information stored in the app

Depending on how you use the app, you may enter or create information such as:

  • family and child profile labels;
  • answers to digital-safety check-up questions;
  • check-up results and action plans;
  • action progress;
  • family device names, types and assignments; and
  • other local app settings needed for the app to function.

In the Launch Edition, this family information is stored locally in browser storage on your device. It is not designed to be uploaded to a Safe Screens cloud database.

3. Information we may receive through the website or purchase process

The public website itself does not need family check-up data. However, if you purchase the product, contact us or use a third-party checkout, information such as your name, email address, transaction details or support message may be processed by us or the relevant service provider.

Final checkout provider: Payhip, with Stripe used for payment processing where available.

4. Hosting and technical data

Our website and application may be delivered through a hosting or content-delivery provider. That provider may process limited technical information necessary to deliver and protect the service, such as IP address, request information, security events or basic server logs, according to its own privacy terms.

Hosting provider planned for launch: Cloudflare Pages.

5. Analytics, advertising and tracking

At the time of this Launch Edition, the Safe Screens Family Check-Up app is not designed to include advertising trackers or third-party behavioural analytics inside the family check-up experience.

If analytics or advertising technology is added to the public marketing website in the future, this Privacy Policy should be updated before or when that change is introduced.

6. Artificial intelligence and external processing

Family check-up answers, results and action-plan information are not designed to be sent to an external generative-AI service as part of normal Launch Edition app operation.

7. Why local storage matters

Local-first storage reduces the amount of family information that needs to leave your device, but it also means that your device and browser are important to data continuity.

Clearing browser or app data, using private browsing, switching browsers or browser profiles, resetting the device or losing the device may remove saved family information. The Launch Edition does not include cloud backup, account recovery or cross-device synchronisation.

8. Clearing family data

The app includes a control to clear family data from the device. This is designed to remove locally stored family profiles, check-ups, results, action plans, progress and device records from the app’s local database. This action cannot be undone through the Launch Edition.

9. Children’s information

The Service is designed for use by parents and carers. Adults should avoid entering unnecessary identifying details about children. Use simple profile labels where practical and consider what information is appropriate to keep on the device.

10. Disclosure and sale of personal information

We do not sell family check-up information. We do not intentionally disclose locally stored family check-up information to advertisers.

Information involved in purchases, hosting or customer support may be handled by service providers necessary to provide those functions. Their own privacy policies may apply.

11. Overseas processing

Some hosting, checkout, email or support providers may process information in countries outside Australia. Service providers such as Cloudflare, Payhip, Stripe and email infrastructure may process limited information in countries outside Australia in accordance with their own privacy terms and applicable arrangements.

12. Security

We take reasonable steps appropriate to the Service to protect systems we control. No digital service or device can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining reasonable security on the device and browser where local family information is stored.

13. Access, correction and privacy questions

For information held by us through purchases or direct support communications, you may contact us to ask about access, correction or privacy concerns where applicable. Information that exists only in the local app on your device is not held in a Safe Screens cloud account and may not be accessible to us.

14. Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, contact us first so we can review it. We will aim to respond within a reasonable period. Depending on where you live and which privacy laws apply, you may also have rights to contact the relevant privacy regulator.

15. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our technology, providers or legal obligations change. The current version will be published on this page with its effective date.
